Red Cross seeks additional volunteers ahead of hurricane season

Atlantic hurricane season is fast approaching and the Red Cross is asking the public to step in and help.

The organization wants more volunteers to help with disaster relief during the upcoming hurricane season.

“Volunteers are at the heart of our mission, representing 90% of our workforce and responding almost constantly to provide safe shelter, food and comfort after disasters across the country,” said Josett Valdez, CEO of the South Florida Red Cross. Region in a press release.

If you want to volunteer, you can help in different ways. The Red Cross says it is looking for volunteers to help in shelters, provide health care and provide direct assistance on the ground in a disaster area.
